For the better performance and stability, go with SE. To be honest 99% of all the good mods have been ported over at this point. There are plenty of mods for both. If you're modding for the first time, then you're not going to notice what's there and what isn't unless it's a relatively obscure mod that you really like and has yet to be ported over. If you're looking to install an ENB preset, then definitely go with SE. If you just want Skyrim with mods and running at 60FPS all the time, then still go with SE. Hope this info helps you make your decision. ;)

Considering that the "next gen update" for Fallout 4 did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, I doubt there is much signficiance between these two versions.  I am still playing legendary edition because I dont feel like starting over with installing all new mods

While I have both installed.  I still have LE characters I'm not done playing with yet, and I still haven't quite finalized my SE mod setup enough to play much through the game in SE yet.
