Neither of those have anything to do with using an SKSE.ini file. You create a text file , rename it to SKSE.ini, place it in the SKSE folder with the following in it.

[Display]
iTintTextureResolution=2048
[General]
ClearInvalidRegistrations=1
[Memory]
DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768
ScrapHeapSizeMB=256

I have a dozen or so SKSE plug-ins...this has nothing to do with that.(according to MO i have 11 dll's...lol)

once you verify this is working...in your MYdocs folder is an SKSE folder...read..-->"skse_steam_loader.log" .....you can now remove SSME.

it will have this at the end...

config path = E:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Data\SKSE\skse.ini
overriding memory pool sizes
default heap = 768MB (effective 512MB if not preloading animations)
scrap heap = 256MB
OnHook: thread = 5688
calling winmain

Also in my SIG...

I'll change it on my next play through, just made level 40 and I really don't want to take a chance of messing up this character / play through

Well whenever i delete SSME's d3d9_42.dll & ssme.ini, the crash occurs, so i guess my Skyrim becomes dependent over SSME, opening steam_loader is an option.
