  1. It appears that myself and any other MS/GP variant players will have to wait until later in 2024. Apparently they are working on getting the Creation Engine for Starfield ready just like they did for Fallout and Skyrim, it's just going to take a while. I would guess they would unlock the APIs then? One would hope, otherwise it would be pointless to have a creation engine and 'mod support' without actually being able to make meaningful mods that work for everyone.
  2. Ummm no? There's nothing 'illegal' about supporting it, by that logic -ANY- modding is 'illegal', They blatantly explain they do not want to go through the time and effort to make SFSE work with the GP/MS versions. The only thing that could be interpreted as 'illegal' would be their mention of protection issues, which would imply DRM protection, which isn't even illegal, as Starfield is a game that openly allows modding and is a single-player game with absolutely no online play possible.
  3. Unfortunately, the Starfield Script Extender only works for the Steam version of Starfield, and there's just enough differences in how Steam handles the game versus how the game his handled when purchased from the Microsoft Store on PC or obtained with the Game Pass. Going to the discussion in the SFSE mod only has a nice big and fairly frustrating pinned comment that basically says the SFSE creator will not be making a version that works with GP/MS, even though SFSE is a fairly essential mod that is required before most other very useful mods can be installed. I can see both sides of the issue, it's frustrating for the mod developer to have to basically pay multiple times for the game to get all the different versions and then do the same work over and over to get the mods to work on the various independent versions. I truly understand that frustration. However, at the same time, I also see (and am directly experiencing) the frustration of having what is viewed as the 'lesser' version (since the vast majority of PC players likely purchased the game through Steam and therefore can use the Steam versions with ease) and being unable to enjoy the very helpful and incredible mods that require SFSE to work. My question is this: Is there anyone who would be amazing enough to grace us 'lowly' GP/MS version players with a variant of SFSE that works for us? I unfortunately have no experience at all in anything close to modding in any in-depth way. Or, if the SFSE creator reads this thread, is there any reasonable amount that could be reached in donations that would incentivize you to work on a GP/MS version of the SFSE?
  4. It depends on what you want. I purchased mine through the Microsoft Store so that I could be cheap and pay only once for the game on PC and potentially XBOX in the future (if I decide to get an X/S). It's the best value for your money if you want it on both PC and console platforms. It's basically the permanent buy compared to 'renting' it through GamePass. Most people on PC bought it through Steam, however, and that's what most of the mods being made are geared for, as apparently there are just enough subtle differences between Game Pass/Microsoft Store versions and Steam that anything optimized for the Steam version (such as Starfield Script Extender) will not work with the Game Pass or Microsoft Store versions. So, do you want versatility of both PC and XBOX for one price, or do you want a wider access to mods while being limited to only PC?
  5. I'm guessing you're attempting to use SFSE like I want to use (also a Microsoft Store/XBOX Games purchaser/user here). Apparently SFSE (and therefore any mods that _require_ SFSE) will ONLY work with the Steam version, because the Game Pass/Microsoft Store version's executable is programmed differently from the Steam version. It's stupid and ridiculous, but the creator of the SFSE is refusing to support the GP/MS version because it would be "too much extra effort".
  6. So I am a major Hero Mech collector, I stuff my Cold Storage full of the unique Hero variants and any 'rare' (like SLDF) variants I find. Before HotIS and the major overhaul of the game engine, there was a mod that changed the Mechlab/cold storage icons of the Hero Mechs to their respective unique looks, as a way to further visually distinguish them from 'normal' variants. That was this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/mechwarrior5mercenaries/mods/209 which no longer works because of the mass release update and is further deprecated by the addition of other Hero/Unique mechs in the HotIS expansion. I have absolutely zero modding experience (despite trying VERY hard, I just cannot wrap my head around it), and it would be AMAZING if someone could revisit this mod type and bring it to the current generation of the game.
  7. Probably, but it's honestly easier to just start a new game and save at the first opportunity, download the save editor, open up the save and give yourself whatever cash, equipment, etc. that you want. Unless you're looking for just 'increased start money' every single time, that is.
  8. First time modder here. I'm trying to experiment with making new mech variants that won't -replace- a standard Mech but -will- be available in-world and likely even seen in-action (though my current project shouldn't be). For this first mech variant I've made what I've called the Overlord, a heavily OP Atlas variant. 200 tons, every single possible Atlas weapon hardpoint unlocked, ECM, AMS, BAP, and even Jump Jets (CT, LT, RT, LL, RL 2x each). Even the armor is doubled. Though I actually slowed it down to Urbie speed. I have the MDA, the Loadout, the model HPS, and the Unit Card all tied together and all in a mod package in the editor suite, but I do not know how to either give it directly to the player or make it available on the market or anything. In the Unit Card I set it to a Hero and Unique for all factions. How else do I need to edit it, what do I need to add to be able to package it so it will add into the game properly and won't replace any existing content or interfere with any other mod content? Any and all advice will be much appreciated. I'm doing this as a proof of concept for myself (though I'll likely release it here on Nexus for OP lovers' enjoyment), so I can make my own loadouts of existing mechs for people to download.
